Hebrew Word Pictures

What are Hebrew Word Pictures?  The original Hebrew alphabet was initially pictures that had meaning. For instance the letter A, Aleph, was originally an Ox head ( a): It meant: first, strong one, powerful one, sacrifice on behalf of the sin of the whole community, etc.  The second letter of the alphabet B is Bet (b).  It is a picture of a tent on a landscape; it means house, family, home. The Hebrew word, father, is made up of these two letters put together and means strong one of the home, first in the home, sacrifice for the family, etc. (The language used by the ancient Israelis became prevalent throughout Canaan as they traded with the
phoenicians, who  traded with the greeks, who traded with the Romans.  Hence we get our alphabet from this original language.)  As you know the Bible is composed of Hebrew. (The Catholic Church purportedly has copies of even the New Testament in Hebrew. Also they've recently discovered another copy of  Mathew in Hebrew.) The power of  this ancient language really comes out when you take a look at the original pictures and discover the hidden meanings and
messages straight from our Creator to us. For instance the last letter of the alphabet is a cross and means covenant.  Jesus said he was the first and last.  He was the sacrifice on the cross for the sins of the whole community that creates and restores covenant.  These two letters are found out all through the Old Testament fortelling of Jesus and His work for you and I.  Check out these other awesome Hebrew Word Pictures as I post them.
