Building Your House

Celebration Days of the Lord
Based on
Numbers 28 & Leviticus 23
Hebrews and most of the New Covenant

Building your House
The Tabernacle of the LORD
This is what the LORD says,
“Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool.  Where is the house you will build for me?” Isaiah 66:1
God has shown his concern by taking from the Nations, a people to bear and honor his name. The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written: ‘After this I will return and rebuild the fallen house/ tabernacle of David, I will repair its broken places, restore its very ruins and I will set it up again- rebuild it as it used to be in days of old.
Amos 9:15 Acts 15:15- 16 KJV, NIV, Amplified

You are… God’s building.  Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? But each one should be careful how he builds. God’s temple is sacred and you are that temple.” 1 Corinthians 3: 16
Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess…For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything…the Messiah (Anointed One) is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and hope of which we boast.  Hebrews 3:1, 4, 6,
I am writing you these instructions so that…you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household which is the church of the living God,
the pillar and foundation of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:14, 1

In Numbers 28, we see the guidelines for the sacrifices of the daily celebrations, new moons and the feasts.  In these verses we see the Israelites via the Priesthood offering the appropriate sacrifices on behalf of the worshipper; the bull, the lamb, the goat, the turtle dove etc.  In the New Covenant accounts we see the repeated picture of Jesus (Yahshuah) as the High Priest offering himself as the sacrifice on our behalf. The bulls, the lamb, the goat, the turtle dove, all of these sacrifices are all symbols of Jesus as the sacrifice of God that takes away the sin of the world. Even though we have these pictures, what makes this really a compelling passage to draw from, is the order in which the celebrations are detailed in.
As we study through the biblical celebrations and feasts, we can see this order in Numbers 28 & also detailed in Leviticus 23, being the underlying principles of Christian help programs, or even man’s modern day self help programs.  Interwoven are scientific principles fundamental to mankind’s emotional, psychological, and behavioral concepts. What makes this obvious is that the order of the celebrations / feasts listed in these passages is first and foremost the order of the ancient Biblical Wedding arrangement.  As we study this ancient Biblical Wedding, history begins to unfold as we understand the church as the Bride of the Messiah in the ancient bridal format. Not only that but we begin to see our own personal identity, salvation and redemption.  We can see more literally how we are the Bride of Christ the Messiah.  We get a better picture of her stormy past, her transforming present times and her glorious future.
This is half the story.  The other half deals with the Groom and their family as they select and prepare a place for the soon coming bride.  We start to realize the awesome family we are going to be married into.  The father is unbelievably rich, powerful, authoritative but not distant.  He likes to have his family within arm’s length that he may wrap his arm around them or offer his shoulder.  The mother is caring considerate, empathetic, understanding but not overbearing. We begin to fall in love all over with the groom. He is stately but tender.  His passionate tenderness makes him pleasing to behold. Thunderous in his defense of his bride, he is deeply ardent for her and is her all abundant source for provisions.  Who would not want to be a part of this family?
Before we address the feast themselves, let’s note that there is a Name of God associated with each and every celebration talked about.  “The Name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run in and are safe.”   So, essential to this study of the LORD’s celebrations are His Name and His Word, which are “exalted above all things” (Psalm138:3). We then begin this study by looking at the Celebrations of the LORD through the Blue Prints laid out in Numbers 28 and Leviticus 23.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.”
