We talked about the promise to Abraham to be made a multitude of Nations. This covenant right was passed on to Isaac, and then to Jacob - reiterated by God himself. Jacob then blessed Joseph’s son, Ephraim, with the promise that he would be a fullness of nations. We see this promise come true when we look at Hosea’s prophecies to Ephraim/Israel and its fulfillment in the dispersal of the Northern Kingdom of Israel into all the nations of the world. They were taken to the Tyre and Sidon area: put on ships and sold as slaves. They were shipped to Egypt and dispersed into Africa and sent to Tarshish (a port in southern spain) and dispersed North through Europe. They were aslo dispersed through Assyria into three areas: the regions of Habor, near the mountains of Ararat, and the cities of the Persians. This occurred around 732 BC. The people of Habor traveled West through Turkey, Greece, and Italy. The people of Ararat region traveled over the Caucasian Mountains and became known as Caucasians. Their descendants are also well known as Scythians, Vikings, & Saxons. Those settled in the Persian area went east and were connected with the Huns and Mongols. The southern kingdom of Judah were dispersed later and retained their ethnic heredity (Jews) whereas the northern kingdom did not. Many scriptures though found in Isaiah, Jeremiah, & Hosea, talk about the Northern kingdom of Israel returning out of their captivity from Egypt and Assyria. Is it an actual physical return or a return to their God (they after all were dispersed because of their pagan worship) their identiy and their Biblical Traditions and Heritage?
A Brief Recap of the things we have talked about relevant to this topic:
This dispersal and prophetic return perhaps answers the question why so many non Jewish believers in the one true God (Christians) have a driving interest in the feasts. In the latter days we are promised that sons of Israel would return to their roots and their mandated perpetual ongoing feasts. This brings us to the feasts themselves.
Yom Teruah known as the Feast of Trumpets in the Bible was later changed in Babylon by the then Jewish leaders to be called Rosh Ha Shannah – Head of the Year. This was in conjunction with the Babylonian pagan perspective and tradition that the gods got together at the beginning of the year and determined if you were to be allowed on the earth for another year. The Jewish leaders took issue with this perspective in that only the one true God can make that decision and thus was born the current Jewish tradition of wishing others to be inscribed in the book of Life during this celebration. The real Biblical celebration includes the following.
Yom Teruah known as the Feast of Trumpets:
· To be celebrated on 1st day, 7th month, day of rest, Holy reminder, holy convocation, Holy rehearsal , present an offering of fire.
· was to be celebrated with 2 silvered hammered trumpets blown over the sacrifices: the silver speaks of redemption and the hammered speaks of God molding us and shaping our lives.
· 1 trumpet sounding brings the leaders together
· 2 trumpets unites the whole congregation to assemble (It is time for not just one trumpet to sound calling just the leaders or just the Jews, but both trumpets where all of God’s people are operating & functioning as one body: leaders and congregants, Jews and other fellow Israelis.
- A silver trumpet is sounded as an alarm to marshall the troops together. We are in a war and the war is intensifying but few are fighting. We are entrenched in our materialistic lives. And don't want to fight the fight.
· Silver Trumpet blown to announce the coming of the King
· Silver Trumpet blown to announce the bridegroom coming for his bride. Other Rabbinical perspectives include the following:
